Does not working make it a vacation??

More news on the "Tyler needs a job" front.

So we found out that when I go over with C, that it is illegal for me to work. Yeah, sounds awesome. I thought so to.

Turns out also, that we need money for things like food and shelter. Merde (<-- I'm glad I learned this French word early because I'm sure I will be saying it A LOT).

We just learned that if I do manage to find a job, I can petition the French govt. to have my long stay visa turned into a work visa.. This also comes with a 1300 Euro application fee. That fee does not guarantee acceptance, either.

I guess as long as I have a shovel, overalls, a glimmering smile, and a mastering of the French version of "I dig you ditch" I will be OK.. But I really (And I cannot stress enough how REALLY) don't want it to come to this.

Hey Tyler...this is your mom's old (literally) friend, Sharon....I have been reading your blog and laughing out loud...LOVE your French language blurbs...Allie (my daughter in Zurich)loves your blog too and is definitely planning on contacting you and Courtney so you guys can meet up in Europe..At the very least, you will have someone to laugh, cry and drink wine with that has been dragged through the same knot hole as you....(Allie knows all about "Americans need not apply!")..The French aren't alone in dishing out merde (the extent of MY French too)....It will be fun to know that you have a couple to hang out with once in a while that you can actually talk to!!! At least YOU get to learn French...They have to learn German!!!...good for you to know that they are as enthusiastic about living abroad now as they were when they moved there 11 months ago....(that should be a comfort to you when you are digging that ditch so you can afford a 12 euro happy meal!!!!!)
oooxxx moi ( my other French word)
